No swollen or damaged batteries. Ideal candidates have a clear fault: a console that won't boot, an amplifier with one dead channel, or a device with a damaged connector. Cosmetic damage is fine. Include what happened before failure and any previous repair attempts. Personal storage should be removed or securely erased before handover.
